New Blog Post: “What Tehran could learn from New York City’s experience with local participation”

Scholar Kian Tajbakhsh argues that Tehran could learn from NY’s model of balancing between
participation, governance and markets. On the other hand, he claims that Tehran should avoid the over-regulation and NIMBYism that has exacerbated housing affordability and mobility. He writes: “The framework for organizing local participation in land use in the city that never sleeps contains some useful elements for reformers in Tehran as they envision city government over the long term, but only trial and error will reveal what approaches might work in the Iranian context.”
