EVENT: Aquí y allá: Art and Activism Against Borders

Presented by Otros Dreams en Actión and faculty at The New School. Sponsored by Global Studies, Politics, Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility, and Civic Liberal Arts departments at The New School.

Join us for a showcase of creative works by members of Otros Dreams en Actión (ODA), a translocal organization of and for deportees and returnees, fighting for visa justice and border abolition. The evening will feature a film screening of El Digno Retorno / Dignified Return, panel discussion with ODA and film director, Jose Eduardo Aguilar, as well as an exhibition of works by fellows of ODA’s Flourishing Here and There Project.

Exhibited artists include Liliana Rámirez, Javier Salazar, Miriam Álvarez, Maggie Loredo, Danielle Cosmes , Rosa Lopez H., Nayelli T. Salas , Esme Flores Marcial and Baruck Racine A.

Wednesday, Dec. 6, 7:30 PM: Pocho Sonnet Performance 66 W 12th St, Studio 001

Teatro para Aliens presents Pocho Sonnet by David Grimaldo, a story that awakens us from “the American dream”  and takes us on an endearing journey through the years in which Eduardo lived in the United States.

Thursday, Dece. 7, 5:00 – 9:00 PM: Art Exhibit by Florecer Fellows University Center 63 5th Avenue, event café (take the main staircase down)
