Afghan Women Speak: Defining Peace, Security and Inclusion 25 Years After UNSCR 1325

October 24th, 2025 | 3:00pm ET
In-person and Online

On the momentous occasion of the 25th anniversary of the WPS agenda, we are hosting an event at UN Women HQ this Friday, October 24th, at 3:00pm. The event will aim to highlight and amplify the lived experiences of Afghan women and their perspectives and definitions of peace and security. The event is co-hosted by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security, UN Women, the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund, and the Permanent Missions of Greece and Panama to the UN. We will hear from a high-level panel of Afghan women leaders and activists, and we will also be launching a policy brief based on the insights of nearly 500 Afghan women, offering their visions for a just and lasting peace and their requests to the international community. We would be honored if you joined us in person or online.
