On January 30, 2020, Mehmet Kurt, Marie Curie Global Fellow at Yale University, gave a talk exploring Kurdish life, history, politics and language and trying to answer the question “What is Kurdistan? Who are the Kurds?.”

There was particular emphasis on the role that Kurdish women have played in shaping Kurdish identity and politics. Accompanying the seminar, there was an exhibition of photographs entitled ‘Kîne Em?/Who are We?’, which chronicled the incredible breadth of Kurdish life and culture. The program was followed by dinner supplied by The Sanctuary Kitchen and an opportunity to hear from their staff and chefs on the work they do to build bridges through food.
