Solar Panels Donated to Karazin University, Providing Electricity for Students and Faculty in Ukraine
September 5, 2023
Earlier this week, solar panels were delivered and installed at Karazin Kharkiv National University in Ukraine, where they will generate much-needed electricity for University faculty and students. These solar panels were made possible in large part by a donation from the New University in Exile Consortium to the Karazin Kharkiv University Foundation. Located in the heart of Kharkiv, Karazin University and the surrounding community have been subject to brutal shelling and frequent power outages since the invasion by Russian troops in February 2022. Despite these challenging conditions, the University continues to operate and provide both in-person and online opportunities for Karazin students.
“Greetings, friends, today is a wonderful day. The Karazin University Foundation has received a complete solar electrical station. Great thanks to our partners and friends at the American consortium New University in Exile. Madame Jessica, Madame Arien, sincere thanks to you.”
Earlier this year, the Consortium coordinated the donation and delivery of 200 Siemens laptops to Karazin University. We hope these laptops and solar panels will enable faculty and students to continue their research and studies throughout the war; a testament to the resilience of the Ukrainian academy and people.
