On July 25 the world woke up to the tragic news of four pro-democracy activists being executed in Myanmar. The victims included Phyo Zeya Thaw who was a former National League for Democracy (NLD) lawmaker and Kyaw Min Yu, also known as Ko Jimmy, who was a democracy activist and had worked closely with Aung San Suu Kyi. UN Human Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet has condemned the executions and called for release of all political prisoners in Myanmar. Currently 2,100 people have been killed, 1 million displaced, 8,000 put in custody and 114 sentenced to death since the Burmese military seized power in the February 2021 coup. Reports also state that at least 382 children have been killed or maimed and over 1,400 children have been arrested since the military takeover….
