Afghan Women Speak: Defining Peace, Security and Inclusion 25 Years After UNSCR 1325

On the momentous occasion of the 25th anniversary of the WPS agenda, we hosted an event at UN Women HQ this Friday, October 24th, at 3:00pm. The event aimed to highlight and amplify the lived experiences of Afghan women and their perspectives and definitions of peace and security. The event was co-hosted by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security, UN Women, the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund, and the Permanent Missions of Greece and Panama to the UN. We heared from a high-level panel of Afghan women leaders and activists, and we also be launched a policy brief based on the insights of nearly 500 Afghan women, offering their visions for a just and lasting peace and their requests to the international community.
