Book Launch and Panel Discussion with Consortium Scholar, Kian Tajbakhsh, at Columbia University

Consortium Scholar, Kian Tajbakhsh, will launch his new book, “Creating Local Democracy in Iran: State Building and the Politics of Decentralization” with a panel discussion on October 27th from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm, hosted by Columbia University’s Center for Global Thought. Rooted in Tajbakhsh’s original field research, “Creating Local Democracy in Iran” examines how local governments and political factions undermine democratization efforts in Iran and ultimately become “an integral component of authoritarian state building.”

The event, with reception to follow, will take place at Columbia University’s Heyman Center for the Humanities. Register here.

Tajbakhsh is a Senior Advisor at Columbia Global Center and Fellow at Columbia’s Committee on Global Thought.
