“The erasure of Afghan women is not inevitable. It is a political choice made by the Taliban and confronting it requires political courage from the international community. Naming gender apartheid, supporting women’s resistance and restoring the protections once promised under the Law on the Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW) are essential steps to ensure Afghan women are not written out of their country’s future.”
