Weekly Scholars Forum

Each week, Consortium Scholars gather online for a 90 minute Forum Meeting. The primary function is to provide a space for both intellectual and personal connection. Scholars give presentations, share personal and professional news, and discuss topics of mutual interest. We also invite guest speakers to share their knowledge and expertise with the scholars. We hold special sessions, for example, in the spring 2026 semester we held sessions on Afghanistan, Ukraine and Iran and this fall, 2026, we have hosted special sessions on Syria and Venezuela.

In the 2026-2027 academic year, the Forum is being led by Dr. Mohamad Moustafa Alabsi. Mohamad Moustafa Alabsi earned his Ph.D. in Political Philosophy from the University of Grenoble-Alpes/France.His research areas are philosophy of law, political philosophy, the forms of regimes and of dictatorships, the totalitarian movement, and the One-Party State. Currently, Dr. Alabsi is working on an independent research project aimed at helping rebuild higher education in Syria.

“The Consortium has helped me in many ways this year. First, it helped me keep in touch with a good group of colleagues. When you stay connected with a group that shares the same concerns and aspirations, it feels good and you feel that you are not alone… The weekly talks that I attended in the Consortium were very valuable and informative. I learned a lot from them and they opened up new ideas in my mind for, hopefully, new research projects.” – Consortium Scholar
