Saladdin Ahmed, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Saladdin Ahmed is a post-nihilist philosopher and critical theorist. He is the author of Totalitarian Space and the Destruction of Aura (SUNY 2019), Revolutionary Hope After Nihilism: Marginalized Voices and Dissent (Bloomsbury Academic 2022), and the forthcoming, Critical Theory from the Margins, which is scheduled to be published in 2023 by SUNY Press. In 2015, along with many other faculty, he was removed from his position at Mardin Artuklu University in Turkey by a political decree. Since 2017, he has held several visiting positions in liberal arts schools in the United States, constructing and teaching more than twenty courses. His research interests include a wide range of subjects in the areas of philosophy, political theory, international relations, comparative politics, Middle East politics, African political thought, race and ethnic studies, and sociological theories.
Dr. Ahmed holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Ottawa, an M.A. in philosophy from Brock University, an M.A. in Language Studies, and a B.A. in philosophy from Carleton University. He is an Iraqi exile and a naturalized Canadian citizen. He currently teaches political science and Arabic at Union College in Schenectady, NY.
