“Navigating Inclusion and Academic Freedom: Perspectives from Italy and the U.S.”
In this presentation, I share my experiences in academia across Italy and the United States, focusing on the critical themes of inclusion and academic freedom, to highlight specific examples of how these concepts manifest in different educational environments and the challenges that arise. My hope is to foster a dialogue about the importance of supporting academic freedom and inclusivity on campuses and what problems emerge for scholars at risk in new academic contexts.
“The Duty of International Feminism in Times of Gender Crisis: Lessons from Afghanistan and Iran.”
In this presentation, I will explore the critical role of international feminism in addressing the gender crises currently faced by women in Afghanistan and Iran under theocratic regimes. I will discuss how these crises highlight the urgent need for a global feminist response that advocates for inclusion, academic freedom, and human rights. I aim to provide insights into the intersection of academic discourse and activism, emphasizing how scholars and educators can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future for women in oppressive environments. This talk seeks to foster a dialogue on the responsibilities of the global community in supporting feminist movements during times of crisis.
Willing to share personal story.
