“From Rule of Law to Rule by Law: How Law Becomes an Instrument of Power”
This lecture explores how legal systems can be transformed from mechanisms that constrain public power into instruments for exercising and consolidating power. Drawing on comparative examples from both democratic and authoritarian contexts, it examines legal and institutional practices that weaken the rule of law while preserving the appearance of legality. The lecture also proposes a comparative framework for understanding how law can be used not only to protect rights and limit power, but also to legitimize and facilitate repression.
“Clinical Legal Education Across Borders: Comparative Lessons on Teaching Law and Expanding Access to Justice”
This lecture examines comparative experiences in clinical legal education and explores how legal clinics strengthen legal education, expand access to justice, and promote public service across different legal and cultural contexts.
“Academic Freedom Across Traditions: Toward a More Inclusive Understanding”
This lecture offers a comparative perspective on academic freedom by examining diverse intellectual and legal traditions and argues for a more inclusive understanding of this fundamental academic value.
