Kazim Karimi, Ph.D.

Biography

Dr. Kazim Karimi previously taught at Afghanistan and Dunya Universities. He holds a Ph.D. from Mangalore University, India, where his research focused on rural development models and their intersection with women’s empowerment in India and Afghanistan.

Karimi has more than fifteen years of experience in different fields and capacities, working in critical positions of the Government of the Republic of Afghanistan, UN agencies, US forces (ISAF), World Bank, and NGOs. During his time at Afghanistan and Dunya Universities, Karimi held many different responsibilities, including serving as a Syndicate committee member, guiding M.B.A. theses, helping universities through the accreditation process, syllabus development, teaching, and student affairs. Dr. Karimi was also the president of the Afghan Alumnae Association of Indian Graduates

In addition to his experience in Academic Affairs at universities, Karimi was deeply involved in various cultural and social causes in and outside of Afghanistan. Since fleeing Afghanistan, he has remained committed to these causes and continues to advance them through co-teaching online seminars through the New University in Exile Consortium. His seminars, “Decade of the Republic in Afghanistan”, “Afghanistan Under the Taliban: The Past Year”, and the upcoming “Afghanistan After Two Years of Taliban Rule” examine the history, internal politics, and international situation of Afghanistan for over 300 students from around the globe.

Karimi’s many years of work in the development and public sectors in Afghanistan have allowed him to enrich his contribution to academia.
